Salud

October 5, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

After 5 days in Arizona, I return. My Uncle F.T.'s funeral was on Friday. My family caravanned out to Yuma to attend the service and be there for each other as best we could. Some laughter out of tears and some tears out of laughter. As it should be.

Plodding Through

October 4, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

It's a busy day. I don't really mind. Of course the instant I leave the office for a few days all hell breaks loose and I walk back into the middle of it. My co-worker -- the only other person in my department -- has been run ragged in my absence and called in sick today. I told my boss to stop killing off the help.

Still, the distraction from life is nice. I've got a lot on my mind and I don't mind digging into work full force so I don't have to think about the rest of it for awhile. I'm just plodding through. The work makes the day pass quickly.

Antibiotics

September 28, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

My cat is on antibiotics. Cat fight = abscess = shaving, draining, and clavamax twice a day. You cat owners out there know the drill.

Divination

September 25, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

Sunday
September 25th
6:37 p.m.

Technology is moving along so fast it's tiptoeing into the realm of divination.

Once, when you took a photograph, you had to wait a week to see it. By the time most of us took the film in, we couldn't remember what was on the roll. Rediscovery. The receiving of the developed pictures took us back to show us our past. Oh look dear, remember when we went to the zoo? This picture came out well. Oops, should of used the flash there. Oh well.

Terry Pratchett is Rad, and Other Random Thoughts

September 15, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

On Tuesday I was having a tough day. I had finished a rough day at work and I had an hour break before I headed to what I knew was going to be a rough ballet class. And I had forgotten my book. Crap. I generally keep books tucked all over the place, anywhere I might need one. Apparently the books that had been posted to The Car and The Ballet Bag were good enough to be promoted to house books and their positions had not yet been filled. This happens frequently. I'm too good at walking and reading at the same time.

Adventures

September 5, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

I've been travelling a lot lately. Disneyland last weekend, then back to work for three days before I shot off to Santa Cruz for a wedding. My cats probably hate me.

Time Tales

August 31, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

I borrowed a DVD from Jenny this week. It's part of the Disney Treasures series - a special on Disneyland. I thought I might watch a little, seeing as this year is Disneyland's 50th anniversary...oh and I'm going to Disneyland in 2 days.

Cat Burgular

August 29, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

I tucked myself into bed around midnight last night. As I had been gone the night before, the cats were extra eager for their evening scratches, vying for the best spots on the bed. I was attempting to remain a neutral, mediating party to the disagreement until Meeko seemingly abandoned her post only to return, having launched herself from the top of the cat tree, a ball of flying fur baring fangs and claws, at poor unassuming Ben.

Pets.

Monday (not in disguise)

August 22, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

Sometimes you need to draw an elephant on a piece of paper to make it through the day.

It sounds weird but it's true. At least for me. Yesterday I was home alone scrubbing toilets and changing litter boxes and not having a very good time. So I put on a tiara and cued up some Broadway showtunes and got back to work, singing at the top of my lungs. It helped. My husband came home and there I am folding laundry in a tiara. He kissed me and said, "You look nice." We finished the laundry together. That's how rad my husband is.
