I recently watched The Dark Knight. (That would be the second film of the Batman relaunch with Christian Bale -- someone, please, come up with some sort of nomenclature standardization for all these sequels of re-re-relaunched movie series of comic books.)
I didn't like it. (Sorry, Chris, I tried.) I didn't hate it, I just found myself questioning its right to exist.
Alright, I have pinkeye. Go ahead and lay out all your zombie jokes a la South Park. Shawn and I have been doing it all morning. He’s got it too so at least I’m in good company. Good, puffy, gooey company.

I was having a perfectly normal sci-fi conversation with a friend – who shall remain nameless – when this friend, whom I generally consider to be intelligent and well-informed, had the gaul to say that Firefly creator Joss Whedon "pioneered the whole cowboys in outer space thing."
Dude. This is someone I know. How is that possible?
When I heard Fan Boyswas coming to theaters in February, I was itching to get out to see it. Turns out it only debuted in a few select cities and Sacramento was not on the list. Shawn and I talked about driving out to San Francisco for this one. We really did. We went all the way to Vegas not to lay a single coin on a table but just to check out The Star Trek Experience, after all, so the thought of driving two hours for a movie wasn’t totally out of the realm of possibility for us. Couldn’t make it work though.
I spent a little time today traipsing through movie trailers for up and coming entertainment. There are some very promising films coming out in the blow-shit-up category.
Ian sent around the newest trailer for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Thank you, friend Ian. I have chills. Looks like July for that one.
I hate waiting.
This past weekend, Shawn and I built a picket fence in the backyard. Our driveway runs alongside the house, connecting the street to a recessed garage and opening out to our little backyard. We’ve planned to put a little white picket fence here since before we put an offer in on the house. Every summer we’ve said, “This year, let’s build that fence,” and still no fence had appeared.
Shawn and I went out on a date yesterday to see Pirates III. I had resolved not to see this one until I had gotten some positive feedback, as I was utterly disappointed in the second. Many people have tried to tell me that one cannot judge the quality of a sequel based on the first movie in a series. Bullocks. A sequel, by definition, is a continuation of a story.
And speaking of time travel, last night Shawn and I went to see Meet the Robinsons. It was our first real date since before the baby was born, and we not only went to see a kid’s movie, but chose one that opens with a scene of a mother abandoning her baby. One might question our decision.
Watch this movie. A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.
Last night Shawn and I watched The March of the Penguins. This was not a wise thing to do. Don't get me wrong. It was a wonderful film, but emperor penguins, as it turns out, don't have the easiest of lives and this movie is not for the faint of heart.
