The DeArmond Disneyland Adventure

March 15, 2012 - 9:50pm -- swingbug

And so I'm back from outerspace from Disneyland.

The kid's first trip was awesome. He did Space Mountain right out of the gate (and by his own insistence, I might add). When he got off he was cool, collected, and a little wobbly. He said it was a little scary on the fast part and he didn't need to do that again. "Maybe when I'm six."

Fair enough.

Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters was probably the biggest hit, everything involving 3D glasses was very cool, and the Haunted Mansion was proclaimed not scary at all.

Hang on to Your Hats and Glasses

December 23, 2011 will be noted as an auspicious day in my family's history. On that day, Luke reached 40" tall.

Height was a big thing in my family growing up. The Byrne clan from which I harken are not, on the whole, large folk. Most my aunts never cleared five feet. When they would call and talk to me when I was still a little girl, the standard adult-to-child question was not the standard, "What grade are you in now?" but rather "How tall are you?"

I Blame the Fish People

Shawn and I went out on a date yesterday to see Pirates III. I had resolved not to see this one until I had gotten some positive feedback, as I was utterly disappointed in the second. Many people have tried to tell me that one cannot judge the quality of a sequel based on the first movie in a series. Bullocks. A sequel, by definition, is a continuation of a story.

I've been travelling a lot lately. Disneyland last weekend, then back to work for three days before I shot off to Santa Cruz for a wedding. My cats probably hate me.

Time Tales

I borrowed a DVD from Jenny this week. It's part of the Disney Treasures series - a special on Disneyland. I thought I might watch a little, seeing as this year is Disneyland's 50th anniversary...oh and I'm going to Disneyland in 2 days.

Homecoming

July 6, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! Disney has officially announced that Space Mountain will reopen on July 15th, 2005. It's been closed for renovations for more than two years now and Tomorrow Land has been grievously lame in its absence. Thank goodness for Star Tours; otherwise there would be no reason to go into Tomorrow Land at all. . . except that pasta place, and the Star Trader of course, and that little nook with all the rad NASA stuff from the Mars rover. Okay, so I take it back. There is still cool stuff there.
