Shawn just read on Muppet Central that Fraggle Rock Season 2 is due out in September. Good news indeed, and listed in the extras for this season is "A sneak-peak of the Fraggle Film in development." Remember a few months back when I mentioned the possibility of a Fraggle movie? While the Jim Henson Company isn't totally locking themselves into production dates just yet, preliminary work is currently underway on a Fraggle Movie. Want some more Muppet news? How would you feel about a Dark Crystal sequel? Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of the Clones Wars and Samurai Jack, is set to direct it. While this sequel frenzy concerns me (can you say "Return to Neverland," boys and girls?), Tartakovsky is definitely an animator I have great respect for and I'm curious to see what he could do when armed with muppets. So, in the meantime, this reporter is trying to keep an open mind and approach the idea with cautious optimism. But to quote a muppet fan on the street, "They'd better make it cool."
