Nothing Whatever

My 28th birthday came to pass on Sunday. Another day older and another day wiser. . . or something. My friends wanted to throw me a party, take me out to dinner, what-have-you. I resisted. Perhaps it's a nesting thing, but I haven't been feeling particularly social lately and leaving the house generally feels like more trouble than it's worth. (Apparently cleaning the house has also seemed like more trouble than it's worth because I haven't been doing much of that either.)

So for my birthday, I stayed home. Shawn made me cake. We did a little yard work and made some tacos for dinner. We finished up the evening reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to my uterus. We did nothing. It was splendid. I highly recommend it.

And while we're talking recommendations, I did catch a few movies over the weekend. May I strongly recommend Mrs. Henderson Presents? It was wonderful, as you would expect any movie with both Judy Dench and Bob Hoskins to be. I also saw the new Pride and Prejudice which is also worth a watch. I'm a fan of the 6 hours A&E mini-series and I felt that, in this 2 hour version, they both did justice to the story and made an enjoyable film. Give it a try.

In other media news, I finished Speaker for the Dead and it was superb. Those who have already been initiated into this series via Ender's Game should absolutely pick this one up.

That's enough reviews and twaddle. Happy Tuesday.
