Morning Mutters

April 5, 2005 - 12:00am -- swingbug

I don't know about you guys but the time change is killing me. I had to pry myself out of bed with a crow bar this morning. I hit snooze twice and finally blundered out of bed at 7:15 am (which still feels like 6:15) and stumbled around the bedroom on unstable feet, trying my best not to lose my patience with the cats who were bounding around me like spring lambs, so excited that someone was awake to keep them company. They hate each other, you see, so when Shawn and I finally wake up from what must seem like an impossibly long nap to them, they just want a little companionship - a scratch on the head, some fresh food in the bowls, a morning game of chase-the-toes-under-the-quilt. Me, I was still trying to get my eyes to open up enough so that I could tell whether or not these socks match and I just wanted them to shut up. A pillow came flying at the loudest cat from Shawn's direction in bed. Apparently the feeling was mutual. It scattered the furballs briefly so I could get through about 10 seconds of my morning routine in peace.

I then spent 15 minutes ferreting around the house with sleep in my eyes trying to find my car keys, which were (survey says...) in the pocket of the pants I was currently wearing.

It can't be safe to drive in a state like this.

Two hours later I'm sitting at my desk and I still want to crawl back into bed. If I put my head down and close my eyes I think I could be asleep in about 30 seconds.

Who invented daylights savings time and did that person take some evil pleasure out of doing this to us twice a year?
