It's amazing what an effect music can have on you. My work place has been a pretty negative space lately. Due to recent events that are neither appropriate for me to disclose nor necessary for you to hear about, the last thing I wanted to do was walk through that door this morning. Not unless I was armed with a baseball bat and could use a few specific people for batting practice. (I consider myself a pacifist but that doesn't mean I'm not occasionally tempted.)
I sat down to my desk grumbling and barely keeping my ire on the inside. A couple of people called in sick. Not surprising. My side of the building is quiet. Thank god for small favors.
I updated my to-do list, jacked my headphones in, cued up some music, called up my database, and got lost in my work. Despite the working environment, I do really love what I do.
So here I am at half way through the day. I've checked a few things off my lists, set my grumbles aside for now, and Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly have seen me through the morning. Hail hail, rock and roll. Amen, Mr. Berry. Thanks for the lift.
