Wheel Never Stops Turning

It's a rainy weekend at our house (thank god) which means building forts, go fish, and a trip to the roller rink to get the wiggles out. We're also watching a fair amount of the Olympics. I must take this opportunity to say that the local network coverage of women's hockey has been insufficient. (Oh, but we get a bloody hour of ice dancing. What's that about?)

I guess you can't please everybody all of the time and sometimes the somebody sitting in the mush pot is bound to be me. Alright, Universe. Noted. I'll stop complaining. (Out loud.)

When knitter's meet this time of year, we often begin the conversation with, "What are you knitting for the Olympics?" The world is going to spend a fair amount of time in the next few weeks parked on the couch watching other people being athletic (there's some irony in there somewhere) and if you live in Knittingland, that means you've got some kind of a project in your lap. It's hardly a sport, but I will have something to show for my efforts at the end of three weeks besides a spectacular dent in the couch.

I've opted to spin my way through the Olympic season. I just cleared four ounces of grey merino off my bobbins, into something resembling a worsted. It was a long and grueling process made longer by the stellar amount of procrastination I applied to the task, and now I'm free to spin my wheels on other endeavors. This batt of merino says Sochi to me, or at least it will when I've spun it up, skeined it, and written "Sochi" on the label.

So I've got a goal, California's got some rain, and the wheel never stops turning, as the Captain says. Stay shiny.

Stitches? Oh yes. That's why I'm spinning down my stash. So I'll have more room for more roving when I get to Stitches. :-)
