Scarf for Grabs

January 19, 2013 - 8:52am -- swingbug

So I did my civic duty and got through jury duty. Apparently what my country required of me was not my inestimable talents of discernment, but rather for me to sit in a reasonably comfortable waiting room chair for the better part of two hours, very patriotically not knitting.

I could have taken a stand on my second amendment right to bear knitting needles, but there is a time and a place, so I went with armed with a plastic crochet hook instead.

I now present for your consideration my Civic Duty Scarf. It's crocheted in Rowan Cocoon (80% merino, 20% mohair) and it loves freedom.

So I'm setting it free.

Want a scarf? Leave a comment below telling me how cold it is where you are. I'll pick one entrant at random at the end of the day on Monday, January 21st. Check back here on Tuesday and you could the lucky bearer/wearer of the fruits of our judicial system.

Ready, set, go.

Burrrrrr ....... It is so cold outside the birdies are ice skating in their bird baths. And I actually saw a squirrel with boots on! Really, all the other squirrels were so jealous. And dad has not taken his home made socks off in a week. This is not good. That is very very cold. Burrrrr .....

I want it. Not only a good color for me, but I love the idea of explaining far and wide that it's a civic duty scarf. Perhaps instead of giving it to one commentator, you should pass it around to any friend who has jury duty. We could keep track of the cases it has heard. . . And cause lawyers or judges to think there is a new blue scarf fad going on.

PS I didn't do a triple submit on purpose. Was NOT trying to stuff the ballot box.

Hmmm, so cold that I think I can come up with a straight faced argument that knitting needles are covered by the second amendment? :-) I would want you on my jury any day, but that would never happen. Bummer.

For Bethel, CT, Weather Underground reports a high of 30F with a 30% chance of snow today, and a high of 18F with a 50% chance of snow tonight. Temperatures will steadily decline through the week, bottoming out on Wednesday with a high of 18F, a low of 3F, and expected windchill of 0F. I do not plan to leave the house this week, excepting a necessary grocery run this morning. The heat is cranked, the hot chocolate is on IV, and the kitties are nestled on blankets around my toes. Tis a good week to read Game of Thrones, Book 2. :)
