It’s two days after Thanksgiving and I feel accomplished. Relatives have come and gone for a successful Thanksgiving meal. The leftovers are in the fridge and the house is clean. The remaining potatoes are baking on top of a cottage pie in the oven and the turkey is queued up to become turkey enchiladas.
I’ve got an advent calendar and an advent wreath ready to go. Today we got the car smogged, baked a cake for the next festive family gathering, and hung the lights on the house, marking the first time in history that I turned on the Christmas lights and ate leftover stuffing on the same day.
I’ve got my favorite holiday album* coming through on the stereo, and I pilfered Home for the Holidays from my neighbors’ video stash for later tonight. I’ve got half a dozen gifts wrapped up and waiting for a tree to adorn with their presence.
Pour the eggnog and pass the cheer. I’m ready.
Bring it on.
