It was holly jolly Christmas around here. At least it was mellow and pleasant. We attended a few parties and visited with family. I took every opportunity to drink spiced apple cider before it goes out of season, and I got myself a kiss under the mistletoe.
Shawn and I enjoyed our first ever Christmas day for just our little family in the history of our six years together. Huzzah! We woke up late with the drowsy boy dozing between us. Even though he's too young to appreciate it, I made Luke wait to open presents until we had made coffee. A right of passage. We loafed around the house, spent most the day trying to defeat a rubix cube, and had left-overs for dinner. It was splendid.
Luke, for his part, celebrated his first Christmas without having any idea that any of this was going on, save that Christmas tree lights are pretty.
Meeko got a toy mouse in her stocking which I later found drowned in the Christmas tree stand. Bad mousey. I evicted it from the bowl and later found it, dry and matted and tangled in the ribbon of a gift still waiting under the tree for my grandfather. Apparently she's a re-gifter.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
