Almost Famous

Well, Netflix got a functional copy of "Almost Famous" out to us lickety-split, so I guess they're link-worthy again.

Both Shawn and I really enjoyed the film. This will sound ironic if you've already seen it, but it has a "real" feeling about it. It's worth a rent, particularly if you're a fan of that era of rock music (early-ish 70s). Killer soundtrack too. The baby kicked along to most the tunes. I guess the baby's a Led Zeppelin fan. My cousin Rachel will be so proud.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman puts in a good performance in a bit part as a small-time rock magazine editor and the film also has Jason Lee in it.

I don't know what it is about that guy. I've seen Jason Lee in quite a few movies now -- playing everything from a super-villian to a rock star to a demon to a comic book inker (tracer!) -- and every time he plays the exact same character in a different outfit and every time I love his performance anyway. What's up with that? I guess it's a good performance if you don't mind seeing it over and over again.

Okay, back to the real world.
